Get Rid of Hives by Choosing Natural Treatment for Hives
What are hives and how do you get rid of them? They are are allergic reactions that often appear as small, itchy bumps. People natural reaction, therefore, is to get rid of these skin problems by taking antihistamines. But, you may want to consider applying a natural treatment for hives before resorting to chemically-manufactured drugs.
First, you can try using an ice pack on the affected area. Ice is very effective in combating both the itch and the inflammation that are the most common symptoms of hives. This is advisable if your case of hives is limited to one part of your body. In case your body is entirely covered with hives, try to take a very cold bath instead.
Another natural treatment for the condition is an oatmeal and cornstarch mixture. Simply mix two cups of oatmeal with three tablespoons of cornstarch and a little water to make a paste. Apply the mixture on the affected areas and leave on for about 30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Your hives should dry up within hours. Again, if your body is covered in hives, a cold bath is the best alternative. Mix six tablespoons of oatmeal and three tablespoons of cornstarch into your bath water and soak in it for 30 minutes and then rinse.
If you begin to have difficulty in breathing, experience some swelling in your throat, or if your hives become huge welts, stop trying to self-medicate and go to the hospital right away. After all, even if your goal is simply to get rid of hives, safety should still be your primary concern.
